Our Sales Philosophy

The days of the shirt-and-tie, sedan driving, polished, commission-only, high pressure (“Tin Man”), residential home improvement salesman are just about gone. There are a few big box stores and big companies that employ the “one call” close systems that have been used in conjunction with a trusted company name and one-stop financing to sell overpriced home improvements. Those days are dying out now as we are living in the information age!

Saturn, by General Motors, Corp. capitalized on the absolute hunger for fairness in sales, exhibiting their real prices up front and endeavoring to serve its customers with unparalleled respect and attention. Purchasing an automobile, up to that point in time was a taxing and rigorous game that took the poorly prepared consumer through a virtual marathon with well trained professionals whose purpose was to obtain a sale at the highest possible price.

So was the home improvement salesman that was employed by the big company, a tactful, artisan of deception and rational that entered the domain of the perspective victims and proceeded to entangle them in a web of emotion and urgency, putting the technical complexities of the project as secondary to the closure of a sale. The post sale contact was then done through a production supervisor that usually facilitated delivery of a marginal and cheap product, with average service.

All this is, or course, geared to profit. The salesman gets paid only if he closes the deal and he a good salesman will visit 15 to 20 homes before he successfully closes an over priced deal. The commission is built into the job cost, along with the marketing costs that are very, very high. The operators of these big name establishments must put aside at least 15% of the gross sales for the use of the big box company name and another 10% for funding service calls and warranty issues stemming mainly from poor and cheap labor. These companies generally charge double what we charges, and we get the job done properly! Our marketing costs are very low as we largely rely upon referral business.

You could deal with the big companies or you could deal with the local contractors that may not be around to service their work if a problem should arise. With the aforementioned, you have a choice between the professional salesman whose primary focus is the sale, and a contractor that may not be the best equipped businessman, selling price to achieve the contract. The contractor that is a small businessman is usually honest, but may not have the essentials for being in business. A job sold too low necessitates cost cutting at the job level (You do not want this). Hand-to-mouth contractors are notorious for going out of business because they just have not planned for the necessities of maintaining a business (Taxes, Equipment maintenance, Insurance Costs, etc.). So, your job, once sold at a marginal price is then “economized” to fit the budget (which is the contracted price).

You don’t want either case scenario outlined above to take place on your home, and as it has been the reality for 4 out of 5 consumers that purchase home improvements across the country. At FSI Restorations, LLC., when you call for initial inspection and estimate, you will get a seasoned tradesman that will arrive at your home to ascertain your needs and make recommendations. We operate from a base of trade knowledge and not manipulative fancy talking. We present the best job as we see it that will fit your needs. We operate from an honest markup that ensures that we will be here tomorrow to service our work and to work on your friends and relatives’ homes that you may refer to us.

We generally make an initial trip to discuss your needs and then we may require a second trip to thoroughly discuss our proposal. We do not want anyone to make the mistake of buying home improvements solely on price. If we did not adequately explain our proposal, we would leave you ill informed and at risk of making a very important, and potentially costly decision that you may regret for a long time. You don’t have to buy from us, but we guarantee you will want to do so. We offer you peace of mind, and peace in the process with zero pressure. We answer all of your questions and we will give you everything in writing. Call us today for a “NO HASSLE” estimate. You will be glad you did.
