Warning: Do Not Allow a Novice to Destroy You Roof !
The smearing of roof cement can actually cause the steep sloped roof to leak profusely from a repaired area that was only a drip before. The reason for this is that velocity and the rapid breakdown of the muck can cause fissures that direct the water velocity like your ?finger in a water hose.? Hence, a small leak becomes a nightmare for the consumer and for the astute and caring tradesman that later has the burden to repair the problem.

On this 20 year old Track home, the lower sloped roof structure is not a place fopr natural slate. Even though Slate Roofing is not normally installed onto a roof where it can be walked (general rule), Certainteed provided us with the 'Centennial Slate' designed for just this application. The Copper accompaniments further the authentic Colonial illusion.
Authentic Pipe Jacks were fabricated and #100 Copper Snow Guards were installed to complete the 'Authentic Illusion.'
