Re: Roof, Hardiplank Siding and Remodeling Job

Dear Bob:

Over two years ago my wife and I started the planning, research and investigation toward a major renovation of our home inside and out. We have a California contemporary type home in South Jersey with a cedar exterior. We wanted to maintain the cedar exterior. The home is also ready for a new roof and gutters and the whole thing.

We decided to focus on the outside of the house first and then deal with the inside.

Early on my wife was attracted to the appearance and maintenance free characteristics of the Hardiplank product. We received a negative response to our inquiries so we concluded that it was not the way to go.

We then settled in with a local contractor who we felt comfortable with and started to put together the remodeling plan resulting in the submission of the contractor's proposal.

Just before we were about to sign the proposal we saw an advertisement for the annual home show at the Philadelphia Convention Center. We attended the home show and it was the best thing we could ever have done.

As we walked around the home show we saw the large booth sponsored by Hardiplank. We struck up a conversation with an affable, and apparently quiet knowledgeable contractor who proceeded to explain why Hardiplank was the best possible product for our type of home; and further, why we were probably getting less than encouraging reports from other contractors.

That gentleman was you. And the reason for the negative comments by other contractors was (as we have now confirmed) due to the fact they were not familiar with the installation of this particular product. You proceeded to answer, enthusiastically and knowledgeably, every single question we posed. When we left the home show we knew that our initial interest in the product was justified and that we wanted to follow through with it.

Well long story short we decided to go with your company and could not be happier.

You spent more time at our home than anyone else. You addressed every question and even posed alternative methods (for the various aspects of the job) that we had not anticipated. We were never rushed and you were always available to answer - Oh! so many questions that come up in this very personal and important process for homeowners like us.

Paul, your crew foreman was extremely knowledgeable and cheerfully answered all our questions no matter how minor. He, along with his crew, made my wife feel very comfortable and assured that the outcome would be everything we could hope for. And it is!

My wife was particularly impressed that the workers immediately (without her ever mentioning) removed their shoes when they came into the house to do their work. That happens to be a "pet peeve" of my wife - which never presented a problem. They were all most cordial, and careful. Every thing was covered and protected when painting or carpentry was involved.
By the way everyone who sees the Hardiplank for the 1st time believes it to be real Cedar - it is a phenomenal product: maintenance free and it looks like the real deal. How can you beat that?

We cannot thank you enough for your competence and caring, your efficiency and thoroughness. You and your team should be mighty proud of what you do. You have made us very happy folks THANK YOU!

With much thanks.
